This system is developed on an ongoing volunteer basis by David Leangen.
Developing a system such as this requires enormous amounts of time and energy. I am happy to volunteer my time to help out a community of such wonderful people.
I would like to that all of our members for their patience as this system undergoes development. I would also like to specifically thank the following:
- Tod Baudin for his design contributions
- Seth Jarrett for his work on the CSS for the KCBA Branding
- Itsuo Naniwa for his suggestions and translations
- Kazuyoshi Hirata for his suggestions and translations
- Nabil Khan for his suggestions
Finally, I would like to extend a special thanks to Carlos Ramirez for his tireless guidance explaining the KCBA vision and business procedures.
KCBA System Updates
Better Blogger Integration
Posted on 2010-10-11 03:29
Blogger is now better integrated into the KCBA Information System. Each Blogger post now uses KCBA Branding.
In addition, we now have better control over the blurb used in the teaser text on the KCBA home page.
Finally, for those long URLs, we now have a URL Shortener Service to make things look nicer.
Mail and web services re-established
Posted on 2010-07-30 22:03
The current technical problems due to the old server because unbearable. I needed to replace the old server, as it continue to crash without warning several times a day.
The new system is now in place, and all services are re-established.
Sorry for all the inconvenience!

Recent System Outages
Posted on 2010-07-25 20:00
As you may have noticed, recently, there have been some service outages.
BioScene Informatics Inc. has been hosting the KCBA Services, free of charge, since the beginning. To reduce costs, we have been using rather old hardware, and recently, the machine has been showing its age.
We plan on purchasing new hardware, and will continue to host the KCBA email and web system free of charge. However, it may take some time before we are able to migrate to the new server.
In the meantime, I would like to ask you to remain patient. I will need to take the system offline for about 1 hour daily for maintenance, and other outages may occur from time to time.
Thank you for your understanding!

Updated the ways names are handled
Posted on 2010-03-17 20:28
Names now have English and Japanese versions, as the two can be different for people (especially international-type people who belong to the KCBA).
The Associate List is displayed in alphabetical order. This makes it easier to search the List for people (though using the browser's "find" function also works just fine).
People now need to supply extra information when registering for an event (that is, if they did not save the information in a cookie). The "extra" information is English AND Japanese names.
Note that this new naming scheme may cause some weird things to happen until the rest of the system can be tested against these changes. Looking forward to everybody's collaboration!
